Crossing Jordan soundtrack album

Wendy and Lisa (former members of Prince's band the Revolution) do a great job with the music for the TV series Crossing Jordan, so I was delighted when I heard that a Crossing Jordan soundtrack album is due out on April 1, 2003 (go ahead and pre-order now). It'll feature tracks by: Richard Thompson, Sam Phillips, Alison Krauss, the Holmes brothers, Marc Anthony Thompson, Cassandra Wilson, Lucinda Williams, Vic Chesnutt, Joe Henry, Rosemary Clooney, Jill Hennessy, and (of course) Wendy & Lisa. Very cool. I tend to forget to mention the great music when I recommend the show, but you have to love a series that uses Richard Thompson's "Shoot Out The Lights" to score a major scene.

I have to admit, I'm pretty intrigued by the list of artists on the forthcoming album. If only the quality of the writing on the show could keep up with the quality of the music. Jill Hennessy is always worth watching, but I find myself wishing someone had hired an editor.
