nifty new music from some of my friends

Tramps & Hawkers have just released their first CD, just as their lineup is changing. Good to have a record of the original Tramps & Hawkers sound with just Kurt Griesemer, David Perry, and Paul Regge; nifty to see the band evolve and grow, too (new lineup is Kurt, Paul, plus Ann Viviano and Mark Sterling). It's a fun album, featuring traditional tunes, some originals, and some covers. If you live in/near the Twin Cities, watch for Tramps & Hawkers gigs at area bars (check their website for a list of gigs).

Folk Underground has released their first CD, too. I haven't heard this one yet, but I know it includes songs by the Fabulous Lorraine, Neil Gaiman, Jane Yolen, and the usual suspects. Some material will be familiar to Flash Girls fans, of course. You can order it from the band (as mentioned on their website) or from Dreamhaven Books/NeilGaiman.net. Should be able to pick up a copy at Dreamhaven or at any of their gigs (including the ones at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival).

Lojo Russo's new album Stoic Abandon is due out any day now, too.
