News & Notes

I do plan to post picks for Sunday. As always, there are plenty of ways to be notified of when I update the site.

Picks are still somewhat abbreviated, hope to be back to normal editions of the picks next week. Perhaps starting on Sunday.

I’ve started posting with some regularity to the tvpicks twitter account so it’s good for more than just notes on when I update this site. Hope to keep that up and am off to a decent start. May put those tweets in the sidebar here somewhere too. Expect some TV news, links, and commentary there. Including some stuff you won’t find here.

ABC has decided not to order more episodes of Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone, or Dirty Sexy Money. All three shows will film/air 13 episodes for this season and that’s probably it for them. At least I assume they’re gonna air all the episodes they make, but sometimes networks do change their minds. This is incredibly disappointing as they’re all good shows and I could make a case that they’re three of ABC’s best shows. If you’re not happy, you might want to get in touch with ABC to let them know.

ABC did order four more episodes of Life On Mars which brings the total order of episodes for this season up to 17 (so far).

The CW has pulled the plug on their Sunday night lineup which included Valentine and Easy Money.

Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal of the Day (good today only, while supplies last) is on Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Collector’s Set (40 discs) for just $70. That’s the cheapest I’ve seen the set, which usually costs $186.99 at Amazon; list price is $199.98. That works out to $10 per season of the show! (I’d be so very tempted if I didn’t already own the single season sets, even so if I were wealthier I’d be tempted ’cause of the neat packaging and extra disc of extras.)

You might also want to check out the TV Favorites Sale which includes season one of Eureka for just $20, as well as seasons of Magnum P.I. and Columbo and Northern Exposure and other stuff.

Batman and Plastic Man team up in a new Batman: The Brave and the Bold (Cartoon Network, 7pm and 10pm; also on Saturday at 9:30am).

Chris goes on a date with “the dorkiest girl in school” on Everybody Hates Chris (CW, 7pm).

New Real Simple. Real Life. (TLC, 7pm and midnight; also on Sunday at 8am).

If you’re a fan of Ghost Whisperer (CBS, 7pm) and are concerned that David Conrad is leaving the show– well, he isn’t really. I’ve seen tonight’s new episode as well as the two that precede it and they’re definitely doing something different here with his character. Will you find the new direction for the show romantic? Or will you be irked like I was by tonight’s episode? I actually found it morally repugnant. I’ll be curious to hear what any fans think. Kenneth Mitchell, who played “Eric” on Jericho, begins a stint on the show. Roxanne Hart (of Chicago Hope) guest stars.

Mary Tyler Moore returns as Wendy’s Mom for this new Thanksgiving episode of Lipstick Jungle (NBC, 9pm). Vanessa Marcil and Rosie Perez also guest star.

Special hour-long Thanksgiving episode of Road Tasted with the Neelys (Food Network, 9pm and midnight; also on Sunday at 2pm).

Diane Sawyer interviews Ashley Dupre, a look at how some Nebraskans are taking advantage of the state’s “Safe Haven” law, and John Stossel followed the CEOs of the Big Three automakers as they headed to Washington this week on 20/20 (ABC, 9pm).
